Elderly Women Project
Was first launched in 2007 with only 5 members, however due to its popularity and importance, it now boosts a membership over 40 elderly women. There is a twice weekly drop-in sessions and is open to all elderly women in Haringey:
Tuesday: 10-2:30pm
Thursday: 10-2:30pm

To reduce social isolation suffered by elderly refugees through the provision of community- base outreach services to homebound elderly refugees and a social support group for those who are able to attend thereby supporting them in accessing services and improving networking and social resilience as a way of improving their quality of life.

To provide a community- based support system in order to promote the welfare and dignity of the elderly through community partnership work and volunteer led support
Objectives
To recruit refugee women over the age of 60 year
To provide support, advice and leisure activities to older refugee women in Haringey
To provide a safe, friendly and cultural-specific drop-in centre complimented with luncheon club to promote social networking
To train outreach volunteers to become peer mentors and befrienders for effective project delivery
As part of the 'Better Government for older people' initiative to work in partnership with other community organisations like Age Concern and statutory organisations to extend information and advice services to older refugees
