Elderly Women Project
Was first launched in 2007 with only 5 members, however due to its popularity and the impact it has made to the lives of the elderly, it now boosts a membership of 55 and has a twice weekly drop-in sessions:
Tuesday: 10-3pm
Thursday: 10-3pm
Main Aims
- To reduce social isolation suffered by elderly refugees through the provision of community- base outreach services to homebound elderly refugees and a social support group for those who are able to attend thereby supporting them in accessing services and improving networking and social resilience as a way of improving their quality of life.
- To train outreach volunteers to support in project delivery.
- As part of the 'Better Government for older people' initiative to work in partnership with other community organisations like Age Concern and statutory organisations to extend information and advice services to older refugees.
